Our school was established in 1993 by Master Roseanne “Ro” Insler, and has been a popular program of the Fair Lawn Community School ever since. Although our programs are offered through a “club-like” setting, our school is just as professional and just as competitive as many other martial arts schools, with some other favorable aspects:

·      We are a traditional martial arts school with traditional ethics and values.

·      We have qualified, caring and dedicated instructors who treat you with patience and respect.

·      Our Instructors and Assistant Instructors must have at least 6 years or 4 years of training, respectively.

·      We do our best to work with the individual's capabilities and physical limitations.

·      We provide a disciplined yet nurturing atmosphere for our younger students, and a challenging, competitive one for our teen and adult students

·      We do not require contracts or long-term commitments.

·      We have reasonable tuition and test fees (almost half of what other schools charge).

·      We expect our students to earn their rank belts and to be ready to move up to the next rank.

·      We work hard in aiding our students to achieve the self-discipline of mind, body and spirit.

·      We offer a safe, monitored environment in a secured public building, located in the Thomas Edison School at 37-01 Fair Lawn Avenue, in Fair Lawn, NJ

·      Our instructors and Black Belts are required to be certified in CPR and Basic First Aid.

·      We take pride in having earned a commendable reputation in the martial arts and in our community.

Our System

Once you decide to train with us, you’ll begin learning traditional Taekwondo along with a sampling of other styles of martial arts. Our unique goal-setting system includes essential self-defense techniques, counter-attacks and evasive tactics that will ultimately enable you to gain the confidence and self-esteem necessary for self-protection. In addition, the structured class format will encourage self-discipline and self-respect, as well as earn you respect from others.

Our system, as a traditional martial art, not only aims at developing fighting skills and acquiring the means to self-defense, it also inspires developing a proper conduct and behavior which will lead students towards achieving “chung myung kwon“, the total discipline and development of the mind, body and spirit.

Taekwondo instills the need to perfect oneself and to aim for achieving self-appointed goals – as Master Ro always says, “there’s always room for improvement.” In addition, Taekwondo also develops and strengthens one’s character, further inspiring the individual to devoting one’s life to safeguarding justice, respect and responsibility. The Taekwondo spirit can be better summarized by the philosophy of hongik-ingan” – our translation: respect for humanity, with a peace-loving spirit, integrity, honor and a strong sense of responsibility.

Though a student’s participation may be for fitness and fun at the Beginner level (see our Beginner Program), our system is intended for the serious student training towards advancement to Black Belt. Training beyond the Beginner level will become more challenging, both physically and mentally, and will require discipline, patience, commitment and dedication, as well as self-control. Mater Ro’s credo: “If you can control your “self”, then you can control any attacker or situation”. Our program will help you to do just that.

With continued training, you will also be able to participate in tournaments, demonstrations, seminars and other martial arts-related activities.

Our Mission is to guide our students towards achieving self-confidence, self-defense, and self-control, while inspiring them towards attaining respect of self, respect of others and responsibility for their actions.
